Grades 1-3 |

The Missouri Association of
School Librarians (MASL)
sponsors this award. Children
in grades 1-3 will listen to ten
story books during story time
each year. Student voting takes
place in early spring and the
winner is announced at the MASL
spring conference. |

The Greater Kansas City Association of
School Librarians (GKCASL) sponsors this book award
program for third graders. Classroom teachers read ten
nominated books to students during the year. In the
spring, students vote for their favorite title.
Summit Pointe student votes are combined with other Kansas
City area student votes to determine the winner. These
books are selected for their appeal to students who are
beginning to read more lengthy materials. |

written for students in grades 4-6. Each year 12
chapter books are nominated by librarians across the
state. Students who read or listen to at least 4 of the
nominees are eligible to vote for the award winner in
March. The student-selected winner is announced at the
annual MASL conference in April. |
