Week of August 22-26, 2011

Next Week’s Schedule:

Tuesday (8/30: Day 1– Music, & **Library

Wednesday (8/31) Day 2 – Art

Thursday (9/1): Day 3 – PE and computer

This Week We Learned:

Readers’ Workshop: We learned about alphabet books!  Ask your child which alphabet books he/she looked at this week.

ABCs: We are practicing saying not singing the ABCs. When we sing, “LMNO” sounds like one letter - “elemeno!” Please practice reciting your ABCs, making sure to say 26 distinct letters.

Math: In math, we are working on counting to 25, recognizing the numbers 0-10, and sorting and describing alike objects. We’re also working on writing our numbers 0-10, in order, which can be a lot harder than it sounds!

**Please note that next week we will be starting to officially learn our letters and sight words. We’ll be adding 2 letters and 1-2 sight words every week! Please work on reviewing these letters and words at home. If a child starts to fall behind, it becomes very hard to catch up, since we just keep adding more and more each week. Each week we’ll send home a small paper book (sight word book) that has that week’s sight words repeated often. Have your child read you that book! Save them and read them over and over again throughout the year J
